Radicle
The radicle is the embryonic root which is the first to emerge from the seed. The radicle pushes through the soil begins to absorb water. As the radicle grows, it develops the entire root system for the plant.

Plumule
The plumule is the embryonic shoot where two or more leaves are usually visible.

Hypocotyl
Located just below the cotyledon, the hypocotyl arch is the part of the plant that pushes up through the soil.
